NAAG is a peptide neurotransmitter that actives the metabotropic glutamate receptor type 3. It is the third most commonly found neurotransmitter found in the mammalian nervous system. Its role as a potential therapeutic target has been investigated in areas such as pain perception, ALS and schizophrenia.
