Moisture, starch, protein and fat are important parameters to consider when assessing the quality of corn. The specialty end uses for corn often require these parameters to fall within a certain range. More worryingly, particularly high or low concentrations of these parameters could lead to health or economic issues.This work shows accurate determination of multiple parameters of ground corn samples obtained with the FT 9700 NIR.
Major nutritional components of soymeal, such as moisture, protein, and fat, can have a key influence on the animals' growth and, ultimately, the overall profits of farmers. Therefore, accurate analysis of these nutritional parameters of soymeal is highly important to allow producers to ensure that they are meeting the end-users specific needs. Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, on the other hand, can rapidly quantify these parameters without the need for solvents or lengthy sample preparation. When combined with chemometric techniques, such as partial least squares (PLS), NIR spectroscopy can provide a fast and accurate method to quantifying these key nutritional parameters in soymeal at any stage of the production process. This works shows the analysis of soymeal performed by FT 9700™ FT-NIR analyzer.
Harvested wheat is typically milled into flour which can then be used to make a wide range of foods, such as bread and pasta or used as raw material in feed production. Moisture and protein are key parameters for evaluating quality of a wheat sample to be used in flour milling or for setting up formulation in feed milling. This application note shows that the FT 9700 NIR analyzer can accurately determine both the moisture and protein content in ground wheat samples.
